Year 1 expectations for homework:

  • Children are expected to read at least THREE times a week at home. This must be recorded in their reading record. Each week a 'star reader' will be chosen for the amount of reading completed at home, ability to answer questions about their reading books or for an improvement in their reading due to their level of practice.
  • On SeeSaw one piece of Maths work will be set each week. This will be based on basic skills that your child will need to practice in order to support them with our Maths work in class. This will be set on a THURSDAY and must be completed by the following WEDNESDAY.
  • On SeeSaw one piece of Phonics work will be set each week. This will be based on the sounds covered in class that week so the children can apply their knowledge. This will be set on a THURSDAY and must be completed by the following WEDNESDAY.

I do keep a log of the homework completed therefore if there is any reason your child cannot complete the homework, or you have any other queries, please contact me either at the start of the day or by email to k.rowland@stonebroom.derbyshire.sch.uk
