Y5 Orienteering Competition

Wednesday 19th July

Today, the Year 5 children took part in an orienteering competition. After learning some orienteering skills during their recent P.E unit, the children's knowledge and skills were put to the test as they tried to complete a 25 point course as fast as they could - each group had a parent volunteer.

With the rules in place and firmly applied by Mr Walmsley and Mrs Horner, the children and parents did a superb job with the winning team in the photograph above.

Thanks must go to the parents for a very enjoyable afternoon.

See the gallery below for further pictures.

Year 5/6 New Age Kurling

Tuesday 7th February

On Tuesday 7th February, some children from Year 5 and 6 took part in a new age kurling competition amongst themselves. After finding out how we play kurling in the hall, the children were split into four teams and they played two different games: traditional kurling and shuffleboard kurling. At the end of the competition, the winning team were 'Team Coolest'.

We would like to thank Bolsover Sports Partnership for coming into school to teach us this new game...... we will be asking Mr Walmsley if we can have a set of kurling stones!
