Summer Term 1 - How can we discover the wonders of Ancient Egypt?
The big question over the next half term is, 'How can we discover the wonders of Ancient Egypt?'. We will be exploring how the Ancient Egyptians lived and what civilisation was like during Egyptian times. Please head over to the 'topic' tab on our class page to view the Medium Term Plan and the sticky vocabulary words relating to this question. Please note that due to Coronavirus, we are on a limited timetable.
Lockdown Home Learning -January 2021
A huge well done to pupils who have been completing SeeSaw tasks this week and a big thank you to parents who have been supporting them. I would like to share with you my plans for online learning with Year 4.
Based on government guidance, the children should have on average 3 hours of work a day. Remember, we are back in term time now and it is no longer the holiday. With this in mind, we have decided in school that pupils will receive the following education:
1) A Maths activity every day.
2) An English activity every day.
3) At least 1 foundation subject activity every day (eg: art, P4C, history etc).
4) 15 minutes of silent reading.
5) 15 minutes of TT Rockstars.
Some pupils have sent through pictures on SeeSaw of their reading or screen shots of their Reading Record. If you continue to send these through and record their reading as normal in their record that would be great. Feel free to send through pictures or messages about any extra learning or activities that pupils get up to. Whilst we cannot be in school it is great to see how pupils are getting on and what they are up to. Dojo Master, Star of the Week, merit badges and other class awards will be announced on a Friday morning as they normally would be in class.
Most SeeSaw tasks have a support video or slideshow which should be viewed before completing the task. This is the teaching bit, so please ensure that your child has gone through the teaching bit first before jumping straight to the task, as pupils can get confused about what to do.
As a school, we will be monitoring work carried out everyday. If the children do not do any work for two consecutive days, we will be carrying out welfare checks on the children. I appreciate, due to other commitments, you may not be able to support your child's learning in normal school hours and they will be completing work later on or at the weekend. If this is the case, could you please inform me so that I know not to worry about them.
Every other week between now and February half term, we will be doing welfare calls. During these calls, I will hopefully get to speak to the child and yourself and I can see how you are getting on and if there is anything further I can do to support home learning.
Finally, please know that I will do everything in my power to make this as positive an experience for the children as possible but if there is an issue, please contact me through SeeSaw, the school office or email me - email@example.com
Thank you for your continued help and support during another difficult period.
Spring Class Timetable

Spring Term 1 - Do we ever drink the same droplet twice?
The big question over the next half term is, 'Do we ever drink the same droplet twice?'. This question explores the purpose of water, including learning about the Water Cycle Model. Please head over to the 'topic' tab on our class page to view the Medium Term Plan and the sticky vocabulary words relating to this question. Please note that due to Coronavirus, we are on a limited timetable.
After speaking to some Parents regarding Homework before half term, I have decided to alter the days of when homework will be set on Seesaw. ALL homework will now go live on a MONDAY and will be due in for the following Monday. Reading records will still be checked on a Friday to ensure that your child has read. If you have any concerns or questions regarding homework, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Attendance Award Champions!
There was plenty of cheering in class this morning, as once again, we were very pleased with to be awarded with the attendance trophy. This means that our class had 100% attendance for the week commencing 12th October. Well done Koalas!
We were very pleased to be awarded with the attendance trophy for 100% attendance for the week commencing 5th October. As you can see the children were very excited to achieve this - as was Miss Johal! Well done Koalas!
Our School Council and Eco Team Representatives
Over the past week, the children have been working hard to write applications to become a School Council or Eco member. They presented their speeches to the class today and we conducted a whole class vote for the positions.
A huge congratulations to Ferrari and Esmae who have been elected as our class School Council members. Harvey and Eevee have been elected to join the school Eco Team to represent our class!
Our first Forest School Session!
As you are all aware, we are lucky enough to spend our Wednesday afternoons in the Forest with Miss T and Laura! Although we have only had a couple of Forest School sessions, Miss T has kept us all busy! We spent the first week on the animal park, helping to feed and clean after the animals. During yesterday's session, we completed team work activities and helped to clear the Forest path. The children were very pleased to have some free time in the Forest before the end of the session. Myself and Miss T have been very impressed with the super behaviour and 'hands on' approach the children have demonstrated in the last couple of sessions. Please remember that Miss T posts what we have been up to in Forest School under the 'Forest School' tab on the website , (alternatively, click on the School App and find the Forest School page link from 'news' section). We are looking forward to returning to the Forest next week!
Our P.E lessons will be on a Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure that your child comes to School in their full P.E kit. They will be in their P.E kit all day and must wear their school jumper/fleece over their kit. Long hair must be tied back and no jewellery is to be worn.
We will be participating in Forest School sessions on a Wednesday afternoon. These sessions will run up until Christmas. Please ensure that your child comes to school in appropriate Forest School clothing wearing their School shoes, with their wellies in a carrier bag to change into after dinner. Please see the separate letter that was handed out last week for more information. Please click on the 'Forest School' tab of the website to keep up to date with what we get up to in the Forest each week.
