Golden Mile

Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in our competition with the year 6's!

Their average laps were 14.3 while we only managed 13.2 laps. They comfortably took the win this week. This brings the running total to 3:3 .

However we did have some good news with these children gaining their next mile certificate.

Dojo Master

It was another close competition so our Dojo Master this week is ...

Greek Vases

These are our finished vases! What do you think?

Two of the class members even won the 'Golden Book' pencils for their vase. Well done to all of the class they turned out beautifully

TT Rock Stars

We have some super star mathematicians this week who have managed to get to their next level on their challenge.

The children have been given their individual target times table to work with on the website. We will test again later this year and adjust this once they have learnt it.

Star of the Week

We have had another great week this week with everybody working so well but we had to pick just one child for star of the week.

This week it is ...

She is a joy to teach! Every day that she enters the school she wears a bright, happy smile. It is great to see a child who loves to learn as much as she does. We have all been really impressed with her attitude this week. She has shown a real determination across all subjects.

She has really impressed all the adults in the maths sessions this week with some excellent explanations and some great mathematical discussions with her working partner.

She sets a brilliant example for others to follow, always following school rules, always trying her hardest and always being kind, polite and understanding to every other class member.

She will continue to be a wonderful year 5 pupil I’m sure.

 Keep it up.

Star of the Week

We have had another great week this week with everybody working so well but we had to pick just one child for star of the week.

This week it is ...

He has settled into life in the Dragons class really well. He sets a brilliant example for others to follow.

He never fails to complete a piece of work and always does this to the best of his ability. He has particularly impressed me in maths this week. He struggled a little with one of the concepts taught but rather than giving up he tried even harder. He worked in a small group and not only figured out how to solve the problem, with a little help, but then helped others in the group to understand.

We really enjoy having him in our class. He is a real pleasure to teach and I know he is going to continue to have a super year!

Greek Vases

We have been really busy over the last few weeks in our Design and Technology lessons.

We analysed pottery from ancient Greece, drew our own vase with designs based on those studied and used this design to help us create our own using Paper-Mache.

This is our work so far..

Star of the Week

We have had a great week this week with everybody settling in so well and working really hard but we had to pick just one child for star of the week.

This week it is ...

We have all been really impressed with this child's attitude this week. She has shown a real determination across all subjects.

She has set a brilliant example for others to follow.

She has particularly impressed in maths this week with much more work being produced, to a much higher standard than before.

She has also been so much happier in school, so smiley, friendly, helpful and polite. She has been noticed holding open the doors for adults and children many times.

She was also superb in our swimming session! Behaving really well and carefully listening to and following the instructions.

Star of the Week

We have had a great week this week with everybody settling in so well and working really hard but we had to pick just one child for star of the week.

This week it is ...

She is an incredibly hardworking individual who takes her learning seriously. She always gets stuck into the challenges in our maths sessions, explains her thinking well and then helps others with their understanding. she just loves to challenge herself!

Her attitude has been wonderful. She pushes herself in every session. She always extends her learning and never complains when more work is given. She takes it all in her stride with a smile on her face.

She sets the standard behaviour for our class and  shows others what a great Dragon looks like.

We really enjoy having her in our class and know she is going to continue to have a great year!

Forest Schools

Some of us have been out in our Forest Schools area over the last few weeks. We have helped to care for the animals and learnt a lot about them.

Over the next few weeks and months others will be chosen to have a go at either Forest Schools or gardening.

Narrative Writing

'We are reading Roald Dahl's 'The Minpins' in English. To help us feel what the characters feel we talked through the story using P4C and then we acted out entering the 'Forest of Sin', on the field, near the trees. Hopefully this should help us as we write on Monday.

I can't wait to read the writing they produce.

Star of the Week

We have had a great week this week with everybody settling in so well and working really hard but we had to pick just one child for star of the week.

He really is such a hardworking individual who takes his learning seriously. He always gets stuck into the challenges in our maths sessions, explains his thinking well and then helps others with their understanding.

Since entering Year 5, his attitude has been amazing. He pushes himself in every session (including Golden Mile) to be the best he can be. His motivation and concentration are fantastic.

He sets a brilliant example for others to follow. It has been noticed more than once this week, that he has helped others when they have struggled. This attitude is what makes a fabulous year5 pupil.

We really enjoy having this child in our class and know he is going to continue to have a great year!

Science - Phases of the Moon

We looked at the phases of the Moon with Mrs Bell today.

We looked at this in pictures, words and even as biscuits!

See if I can remember anything from today!

Science - Dance of the Planets

We have been learning about how the Earth, Sun and the Moon move around in relation to each other.

We all played our parts!
