Dodgeball League - Week 8 Update

18 May 2018 (by J Walmsley (mr walmsley))

The Jammy Dodgers extended their lead at the top of the table to 8 points after beating The Shining Diamonds.

In a very one-sided contest, The Jammy Dodgers brutally took apart The Shining Diamonds to extend their lead at the top of the table to 8 points with just 4 games remaining. Despite the best efforts of the diamonds, the dodgers were just too quick and powerful and won all five games before the timer had reached 90 seconds. Further good news for The Jammy Dodgers came when second placed Payback drew with The Furious Five, who were third at the start of the game. In a closely fought contest that ebbed and flowed, they went into the last game with all results possible. It looked as if the five were going to get all three points with some excellent throwing from Asha and Lucy, coupled with an excellent catch from Jasmine. However, the boys fought back with Armando and Santiago doing the damage to leave both teams with just one player remaining come the end of the 90 seconds. It was a thrilling end to a superb contest. In the third and final game, The Unicorn Squad were looking for revenge over The Destroyers, who beat them 4-1 last week. Whilst last week's match was comfortable, this week's match was anything but with The Destroyers only managing to field three players. This didn't stop them battling hard and in another match that ebbed and flowed, The Destroyers went into the final game in control of the match needing a tie to win. The unicorns quickly eliminated Chelsea and Logan Wi but they couldn't hold on to take the win. An excellent catch from Logan Wh meant that there were two players on each side at the end with all 3 points going to The Destroyers. The Dodgeball League now takes a two week break before returning on Friday 8th June. Will the dodgers continue their march to the title or will Payback and the five respond? Who will win in the battle of the bottom two? And will The Destroyers continue their epic run of form?
