Dodgeball League - Week 5 Update

27 April 2018 (by J Walmsley (mr walmsley))

THE JAMMY DODGERS REMAIN ON TOP BUT PAYBACK ARE CLOSING IN

After another epic session of dodgeball, in which the matches were once again close, The Jammy Dodgers maintain their lead at the top of the league. However, despite winning four out of four matches, the dodgers will have to watch their backs as Payback are not far behind. The opening game of the afternoon saw Payback take on our youngest team, The Destroyers. Game one saw Payback take a comfortable win after some excellent catching from Bailey got some of his players back in the game. The second game was much closer, with only two members of Payback left as Armando and Kian saw off the challenge. The third game was the tightest with Payback looking in total control but some stunning dodging and throwing from Carter saw one child left on each team and thus securing a point for both teams. Once again, the fourth game was tight, with Freddie (who has replaced the injured Jackson) and Logan Wh fighting to stay in the game for the Destroyers, but Elliot and Santiago helped to make sure that Payback took home all three points. The last game went the way of Payback who showed that every member of their team is a threat. Despite the final score being 5-1, it really didn't do justice to the hard work that The Destroyers put in and I am sure they won't be far away from their first win. In the second match, The Jammy Dodgers ran out 4-2 winners over The Furious Five. Once again, the score line would suggest a comfortable win but the dodgers but perhaps the first time so far, they experienced a few scares as the five battled away ferociously. Game one saw a fast start from the dodgers as they eliminated the five in a short space of time - Jason with some excellent throwing. The girls came roaring back though in the next game with the five taking the lead early - Romilly and Destiny with the eliminations - but the boys quickly replied in kind and actually took the lead only for Asha to peg them back to a draw and a point a piece for both sides. No doubt disappointed at not winning, the boys came storming back in game three, eliminating all the five once again - Oliver and Charlie with some excellent eliminations. The fourth game was another tight game and had there not have been some excellent catching from Steve and Dawid, the five may well have sneaked the game but the boys held on to secure the win. As is always the case, the final game was still played and some superb teamwork from the five, coupled with some excellent eliminations from Lucy and dodging from Kam, saw them eliminate all of the dodgers meaning the league leaders dropped their first point of the competition. All this meant that The Jammy Dodgers remain three points clear with Payback in second place (having played a game less). The Furious Five find themselves in third place with The Unicorn Squad in fourth - third and fourth will play each other next week. At the other end of the table, The Destroyers are fifth and The Shining Diamonds are sixth - a crunch match between these two teams takes place next week.
