We have had a fantastic first lesson for our Food unit in Design and Technology. We had to investigate whether a selection of foods were fruit or vegetables. We started the lesson by sharing what we already thought and then learnt that fruits are foods that contain seeds (this is one of our sticky words so it was super to hear the children using it lots!) We rotated around tables in groups that had a selection of fruits and vegetables on. We had to search for seeds and then record our findings on post it notes in a table. It was a lovely lesson with lots of discussion. Lots of us were shocked to discover that peppers, avocados and tomatoes are all fruits- we had guessed vegetables at the beginning of the lesson!
