    Koalas - P4C Celebration Day

7 June 2019 (by Mrs Marsh (koalas))

What a fantastic day we had on Wednesday!

On Wednesday, we celebrated P4C throughout the school. In Koala class, we read Goldilocks and the Three Bears for our stimulus.

From this, we looked at concepts and discussed what a concept is. We decided to look at the concept good/bad. In small groups, the children arranged some pictures, which had been taken from the story, into an order (beginning with the 'naughtiest') that they believed was the worst thing to do.

The children gave reasons for their order. Ellie C wrote 'Goldilocks breaking the chair is the worst, as that is somebody's property'.

After that, in pairs, the children generated questions from the stimulus, which they believed would facilitate a great enquiry. In order to decide if these questions would facilitate a great enquiry, the children took part in a 'Mad Hatters Tea Party'.

After voting with their porridge bowls, the question selected was 'Is it ever ok to commit a crime?'

The children's discussions were fantastic! Josh wrote: 'It is only ok to commit a crime if it is was by accident. If you do something on purpose, then you are committing a crime. In my opinion, I think it is sometimes ok to commit a crime.'

The session ended with the class designing their own paper bear.
