Shark Class - Whatsapp Groups
Hi all, can I begin by thanking you all for attending parents' evening, it was wonderful to meet with you all to discuss your children.
Children's Whatsapp Groups
At the start of this week, many children in the class were excited. annoyed and angered over the recent disputes on one of their Whatsapp/social media groups. The fallings out not only upset many children but also led to these being eagerly discussed in school. Upon reading excerpts of some of the messages,it is evident that some of the children quickly resort to name calling and general inappropriate language. It was also noted that the length of time the messages continue for, number of messages and lateness of these were of concern. I would like to mention; however, that the level of kindness and cooperation shown by some children, in the class in these messages, was admirable.
A number of parents commented upon, during the consultation meetings, that they had concerns relating to these groups and the children's behaviour upon them.
With this in mine, could I please urge you to monitor your child's use of messaging services? We all understand that technology is a very important part of all our lives but it can be a tool for negativity as well as good.
