Congratulations - our first pupil of the academic year has reached the magic '500 reads' mark
As part of our commitment to make sure that children read as much as possible, in KS2 we have a uniform approach to awarding reading certificates. This gives reading a boost and encourages children to read more frequently at home. Every child is expected to read at home at least 3 times per week, with this noted in the homework diary.
EVERY child can find something they enjoy reading, it's just a case of finding what genre is right for them!
The certificates are as follows:
25 - Bronze / 50 - Silver / 75 - Gold / 100 - Platinum / 150 - Platinum Plus / 200 - Diamond / 300 - Commended / 400 - Outstanding.
Should your child reach the magical 500, then Mrs George will buy them a book(s) of their choice up to a value of £10. We are pleased to report that we have just had our first pupil of the year reach the magic 500 reads.
