Do you know exactly what your child is doing online and who they are talking to ? You may be surprised. We certainly were.
It has become very apparent over the day with Traci that our pupils are more capable and knowledgeable than most adults when it comes to being online – as adults we are constantly striving to catch up.
Since March many of our children have spent more time than usual on the internet and every now and again they need reminding how to stay safe.
From a very early age, children in our school have access to the internet whether this is through smart phones, IPads, smart televisions, Alexa, consoles etc. They have told us that they are spending their time watching/posting on Tik-Tok (some of them are posting/watching TikTok live), Snapchat, Roblox, Youtube, Instagram, Minecraft, GTA, Whatsapp, Facetime, Gacha, Fortnite, Twitch, Twitter, Among Us etc. Some of the older children are talking to their friends on WhatsApp until 3 or 4 in the morning. As staff, we were not aware that some of these games/apps existed!
Please, please make sure you know what your child is doing online and who they are chatting to.
