CROSS COUNTRY 2021/22

On 12th October Mrs George & Miss Johal took 20 children to the local annual cross country competition at Morton. There were 8 schools competing, including some larger schools from out of the area.

Despite the very wet weather, the children were fantastic! The downpour did not stop any of them from trying their best and their attitude and behaviour made us extremely proud! The overall results of the tournament are as follows:

  • Y3/4 Girls - 2nd Place
  • Y3/4 Boys - 3rd Place
  • 5/6 Girls - 1st Place
  • 5/6 Boys - 2nd Place

A huge well done to the following children who came in the top three of their own category:

  • Y3/4 Girls - Alana—2nd Place
  • 5/6 Girls - Amelia—1st Place
  • 5/6 Boys - Jack—2nd Place

We are all so proud of each child who attended. A huge thank you to parents for supporting your child with this event too! The Y5&6 girls team, Alana, Jack and Amelia will all be asked to represent the area in the Derbyshire cross country competition in April.

As a school we have never had such a successful result—we believe that the Golden Mile is having a really positive impact on the physical fitness and mental well-being of our pupils.

YEAR 5/6 FOOTBALL COMPETITION

On Wednesday 23rd September, some of the Year 5/6 boys took part in a football competition at Tibshelf Community School. There were three groups game which we lost by 1 goal in each case - Henez was the scorer of our only goal. In the final play-off game, we lost 3-0.

We (Mr Walmsley & Mrs Marshall) were very impressed with the effort the children put in and the improved teamwork that went on throughout the competition - some of the children only play football on the school playground!

So whilst the results did not go our way, the performance in each game was impressive so well done boys!
