In two of the tightest matches of the league so far, The Destroyers drew with The Furious Five whilst The Unicorn Squad defeated The Shining Diamonds to claim their first league win.
The Unicorn Squad secured their first three points with a 4-1 win over The Shining Diamonds, who were a team member down in this crunch match at the bottom of the league. The Unicorn Squad won the first game with some fine attacking play from Millie before The Shining Diamonds equalised with a win in the second game. The third game looked to be a comfortable win for The Unicorns however some heroic battling from Eve saw the Diamonds only just go down. The fourth game went in similar fashion with Holly and Emilie helping to eliminate a lot of the Diamonds and thus secure their first win. Darcey put up a fine fight for the Diamonds in the final game but time was against her with the Unicorns securing a 4-1 win in a highly competitive match.
If the above match was competitive, then nothing could prepare the watching spectators for the next game: it ebbed and flowed with the outcome unsure right until the last second. The first game went the way of The Furious Five, with Lucas doing a fine job stepping in for poorly Lucy late in the afternoon. The boys were quickly back in the hunt, with Carter taking the lead and helping his side get over the line. The Destroyers went 2-1 up the next leg with some fine throwing from Logan Wi and Logan Wh. This meant that The Furious Five had to get something out of game four and Asha really stepped up to the plate with some fine throwing, making the score 2-2. It was all on the decider! Kam was quickly eliminated for The Furious Five - she had been targeted throughout the afternoon - and Troy was eliminated shortly after as he tried to grab the ball. With time ticking down, Romilly went close to eliminating Logan Wh but it wasn't to be: both players finished with 3 players on each side meaning game five saw each team score a point. 3-3 was the final score and the league has its first draw.
It certainly was an exciting week of dodgeball and next week promises to be just as good with the league leaders The Jammy Dodgers taking on The Furious Five and The Destroyers taking on Payback.
