Homework

Spellings

Spellings will be handed out on a Thursday to be learnt for a test the following Thursday. Please encourage your child to learn these. Spellings will be taken from the Year 2 spellings groups that pupils should know by year end. They may also be taken from phonics sessions if pupils are recapping particular sounds.

Homework

Each week pupils will usually be given one piece of literacy and numeracy homework on a Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday. It is also expected that pupils will be reading regularly at home and beginning to learn their times tables in the coming months. Your child’s homework should be completed in pencil and to the same standard as expected in class.

Reading

Please try to hear your child read as much as possible because it really makes a big difference to their fluency and word recognition. Talking about the story and characters also helps to develop their understanding skills.

Each week a Star Reader list will be compiled from pupils who have read 3 or more times at home. A pupil will be chosen to receive a certificate in Achievement Assembly and we will also hold a class reading raffle!
